Been lurking here for awhile but finally decided to create an account.
Just picked up a 2014 XB for my mom and I inherited her 2010 XB. I had an 06 XB but sold it awhile back (long story). Going to be doing a few things to the 2014 and to the 2010.

First project will be installing a Pioneer AVH-X2600 BT, ASWC-1, and reverse camera in the 2010. Still debating which camera to go with. Not sure if I want to upgrade the speakers yet.

Second project will be installing a reverse camera and integrating it into the stock Pioneer (non Be Spoke) head unit in the 2014. I want this this to be a clean stock looking install. Ive been researching the Beat Sonic kit and the CMOS camera that replaces on of the reverse lights. I would like everything to be plug and play to keep it all simple.

So Ill be asking a ton of question and hope you guys will help me out along the way. Thanks.

Welcome to the site. With two B's to work with, you'll be busy. We'll be interested in what projects you do. What are the spec's on your B's (color, trans, etc.)?
BTW, happy thanksgiving.

Actually that's the first thing I would do. Especially the rear speakers. The sound quality is poor and they are located too low. Mounting quality Separates in all four doors will make a world of difference (I speak from experience). Congrats on your cars and have fun with your mods!
I found that replacing the rear speakers with anything better and adding an underseat sub is a huge improvement. I've still got the stock headunit and front speakers and love how it all sounds together. I am contemplating getting the appradio 4, but that's just for functionality reasons.

Totally agree!

To stockxb: In fact, a few on this forum have only replaced all four door speakers and were happy.

Having said that, a sub is icing on the cake. The underseat location takes up no cargo space and is close to you for clear thump. Best solution in my opinion.

I love the idea of the sub under the seat as well. I just don't think my 12" jl w3v3 is gonna fit lol. Don't have money to do a new setup so i have to work with what I got. Unless u think it would somehow fit a 12 under there im gonna end up with that one from the customenclosures site when I get the money.
10" is as big as you can go. There isn't enough width between the seat rails. And not enough depth to drop the sub under the rails.
I got the Bazooka sub that was on sale 2 yrs ago. The hardest part of the installation was getting the back seat cushion out. Everything else was detailed, but after following the directions,it flowed. After the installation,I turned on the radio and heard a big difference.

Are there direct replacement speakers that would be an upgrade over the stock rears and front? Particular recommended brand? I have the stock 2013 pioneer touch Hu, don't think I'm adding a sub though. Thanks.

I also have to add padding to the center armrest and recover it's hard as a rock!
Per my previous post, I would recommend getting Component speakers for both the front and rear doors, all the same size and model if possible for best fader balance. I like Rockford Fosgate "Punch" components but they also sell a less expensive "Prime" line. Keep in mind that the OEM front door speakers are Components and the rears are not (and the speakers are all different sizes too). In my opinion it's important to have the separate tweeters in the rear doors mounted up high on the door (you can surface or flush mount them) for good sound stage.

Adapter brackets from Crutchfield or Sonicelectronix will make it easier to mount the woofers or you can make your own. Getting the woofer to seal against the inner plastic door panel is critical for good bass. Fitting aftermarket tweeters in the front door sail panels will require a minimum of work, but it's very doable. You can see what I did on my website (linked below in my signature). Good luck with your mods!
