Hey everyone Im new to this forum and its been a long time coming. My wife and I have had our XB 8.0 since 2011 but have never really thought about modding it since I have so many projects myself and that is expensive enough. I am a very active member on my forum and I have always like the friends I have created over the years. I hope this forum is a friendly as my other is. Hopefully you all dont mind noob questions since I am sure I will be asking a few here shortly. I know there is alot of info in here if I just read but to be honest I dont think I have that kind of time with how busy I am. So please dont flame me too hard. I dont have any pics to post up yet since nothing has been done but its stock and Im sure you all know what that looks like.

to match demand?
<Warning: Off Topic>

Of course. Automatics have improved so much in recent years (more gears and more efficient) that now many view a Manual tranny as being a nuisance or even undesirable. Many cars nowadays don't even offer a manual. Also fewer and fewer people know how to drive (or enjoy) a manual. The resulting small number of manual transmissions available makes them harder to find.

There was a time when an automatic tranny meant a guaranteed decrease in performance and gas mileage. In the early 1970s (yes I know, some of you weren't even born yet) you could only get a 2-speed or 3-speed automatic in a Toyota Corolla, versus a 4-speed or 5-speed manual. Modern automatic transmissions have lockup converters and/or overdrives and/or more ratios than before, to rival the performance and gas mileage of a manual. Auto transmissions also have better "smarts" now, that were simply not available years ago.

(I would have gotten a manual on my xB, but my wife is one of those who view a manual tranny as a nuisance. She insisted that I get an auto tranny, or else No Deal.)

Unfortunately the manual transmission is becoming an endangered species. (Can you tell I'm a bit jealous of LAE_Xb's manual tranny?)
