So on my XB I put in some Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I have noticed a quieter and lower engine. However, RPMs seem to have been increasing. For instance, I'm at a stop light. When it's green and I step on the gas, the engine vrooms more than it used to before I switched oil. Like I have to push down more on the gas a little more to increase speed. Sometimes it gets up to the 4 mark on RPM. Is this because of the oil? Please help.

I don't know if the oil would make that much of a difference in the vrooom factor. Did you happen to buy new shoes?

A week ago I switched to Mobil 1 5w-20 synthetic.
Seems to run rougher when I first start up the car but the engine quiets down to normal when it's warmed up.Maybe idles a bit lower?not sure. Feels smooth and responsive but no extra vroom noticed (automatic transmission).

Naw no new shoes. Maybe I'm thinking too much of it.

I don't think so. If you bought it from an actually Toyota dealership it's probably what they use. My local one uses Quaker State for their cars.

Synthetic oil is a slicker viscosity, if anything you would notice noisier startups when you might feel a little bit more sluggish of a motor with the sticker viscositycold but the end result would give you better lubrication throughout the entire motor. I believe toyota calls for 0/40w which is a very thin oil. I would recommend a 5/20 in hot climates especially if you plan on hot rodding that thing around. You might feel a more sluggish motor with the sticker viscosity but nothing that would really impact exceleration.
