How do you guys like the overhead console on the Xb? Would you recommend that I get one installed?

Thanks, Mark

I've thought about that too.

You could probably install it yourself though. It doesn't look to hard. TRD Sparks has good prices and they post the installation instructions online so you can see what you're getting yourself into.

Console Install
i would like to have this...

If it werent for a sunroof.

Good luck if you do it yourself, dont look to tough to do.
I personally don't like it, but there is plenty of headroom so it wouldnt really be in the way.

Just be sure you want it before installing because you do need to cut the headliner.
I have seen a S-10 Blazer overhead console mod. That looked very nice and fit surprising well with very little modifications.

Tall folks, like over 6' tall, don't like it because it is a head-banger for them. Shorter folks like myself (5' 7") have no problem.

Phobic is right, cutting the headliner is required. So once done, you can't go back unless you buy a new headliner (or live with the cut).

You can see pics of mine on my website (link below). I do like the look. Functionality is OK. Seems like an easy mod to do, others on this site have done it themselves.
Very easy to do. Just be careful when you line everything up to do the cut. Take your time and it should be all good.
I'm 6'1" and have zero head room issues. The unit is OK, but if you live somewhere where it gets hot, it is worthless. Anything you put in it will get a LOT of heat. I live in Phoenix and I pretty much stop using it during the summer. It sucks to pull your shades out of the holder and they so hot they are about to melt.

In hindsight, I totally wish I would have gotta a sun roof instead :(
Heat has a LOT to do with body color. If light, no prob. If hot, the pockets get toasty.
In my silver, it works just fine and isn't too bad compared to the rest of the B.
Also, areas like Texas or Arizona likely impose a pretty severe sun load...

I'm glad you can use your OH console year round. I wish I could. However, regardless of the color, if someone lives where it gets to be 110F-120F or higher, your OH console contents will get damaged or way too hot. Just something to consider for us desert dwellers...
