Driving a 2011 Xb. Problem is when the passenger leaves the seat and exits the car the light for the airbag stays on. I have pushed on the seat it self and even hit the bottom of the seat! I am asking if anybody has run into this problem.

Turn off the engine, then back on. It will reset.
The sensor seems to 'search" as the ignition is flipped and then stays in that mode.

Here is what I have noticed with this.

Stop the car but leave it in gear. The passenger gets out. The passenger airbag light comes on and beeps. It will turn off after a block or two of driving.

If you stop and put the car in park, when the passenger gets out there is no light or buzzer.

Has your passenger been exiting the car when it's in gear?

Check the connector under the passenger seat, mine has a tendency to do this when something has ben shoved under there and pulled the harness slightly. Just push it together and relieve any tension on the plug and harness.

If it is on, and the passenger gets out and stays on till the vehicle is turned off, that is normal.

However, it is is on all the time, or if on when you start the B and and no passenger . . . then, there is a real problem.
It could have a number of causes.

This is exactly whats going on. Everyday I drive my car the passenger seat belt light goes off and the beeping sound presents itself. Also at times the air bag light comes on. I'll let the Toyota guys know next time I'm in for an oil change.
