Hi guys, here is a little experiment I'm willing to do.
My second oil change is due in 2500 Km ( 1550 miles ) and Scion Canada only offers the first free oil change.
I'm pretty much setuped in term of engine performance add-ons, intake and exhaust, so I want to see if oil and oil filter brands really have an effect on the gas mileage.

Since the beginning I am running on Toyota's 5w20 synthetic oil and filter. getting an averaged 8.5 L/100 Km (27.67 MPG) on the computer which is really a 9.2 L/100 km at the pump ( 25.57 MPG). I usually drive smoothly with 50/50 city/highway drive, but I casually enjoy getting my RPM up and the engine growling. :devil:

For my next oil change, I'll be getting Mobil 1 5w20 and K&N HP-1003 filter.
I'll keep track of the MPG and the total cost of the oil change.

Any inputs will be greatly enjoyed and I'll keep this thread updated as long as I have my beloved xB

i made the switch to synthetic when my warranty ran out @ 100k. wish i had done it sooner. i went with mobil 1 0w20 and trd performance oil filter. picked up 5 on ebay at a discount. i good for 50k.

after the switch i gained 2 mpg overall average mixed driving. my butt-dyno feels more torque in 2nd & 3rd gear. don't know if it from the WST fluid exchange or the oil & filter; maybe a combination of all three done at the same time.

i'm planning a long trip this summer. i'm looking forward to see what the mpg will be cruisin' @ 70mph for 850 miles.

Hey dude, I'm running Mobil One 5W-20 and am considering 5W-30, let us know how your change works out for you !

I picked up the jug at walllmart. For like $28...sweet deal next is m1 filter

Yeah I used it on my 200K Miles Toyota Pick-Up, no complaints
