So I've been browsing around CraigsList for cheap rims. I've found a few prospects, but I'd want to change the color. I know a few of you have powdercoated wheels. Can you give me a ballpark price for what it costs to have done? Right now, I wouldn't even know where to go have it done (or get an estimate).

Not sure of the price as my buddy works there but they do it here, where I live, at metal shops.
Like metal fabrication shops. He works at a sheet metal shop that makes everything from furnace ducting to sinks to signs and they have their own machines to paint their stuff.

if you are going for a common color and the people are nice like here they should be able to just ross your rims in when they do their stuff the same color for roughly 60$

On a related note, does anyone know if tpms's from an 05 Infinity G35 are compatible with our xB's? I tried google, but didn't come up with anything useful.

BTW here's what I'm looking at: 05-06 (4) Infiniti G35 17" wheel 5x114.3

For all 4. My buddy does mine and his for free if you do them all one solid color.
But if you get nice people like we have here hopefully they will just let you toss in your wheels with their stuff for cheap, whatever they would charge, herr these nice guys do it for like 50-60$

As far as the tpms's. I dont c why not. All tire vavles should be the same. Maybe the angle of will be off and not work.

My thought next time with the tpms is to take em out and make a pvc canister and dump em in the trunks pit. Others have done on here.

I have no doubt the valve would still fill the tire. I'm wondering if the tpms can communicate with the xB or not. They may operate on different frequencies for example.

Yeh im thinking not. I had gotten another toyota set, but when u change wheels. You either get em reprogrammed or deal with the light. Personally, I hate em.

Wheel shops will usually just send your wheels out to be powder coated. At least that's the case in my area. This particular shop specializes in sandblasting and powder coating for all different parts, not just wheels.

I found a powder coating shop in Chicago online. Their website says $100 per wheel.

Yeh im thinking not. I had gotten another toyota set, but when u change wheels. You either get em reprogrammed or deal with the light. Personally, I hate em.

I just take my gauge apart and cover the light with a piece of electrical tape and presto no more light!

I've heard of that too lol. I would perfer to have working sensors though.

Ha! If you're going to do it right though the tires have to be cold - not driven on for several hours. I usually think of it as I am getting out of the car - too late for accurate readings. I do actually still check my tire pressure from time to time. That doesn't help though when you are driving and start losing air!

BTW I don't know how the sensors work on Scions, but the Mini rep explained when we bought my wife's Clubman that the sensors detect if one tire is different from the others (by more than 5 psi I think). If all the tires gradually lose pressure (as tires do) they could all be low and the sensors wouldn't trigger the light. It is especially important to periodically check the pressure in her run-flats. The sidewalls are so stiff you wouldn't necessarily notice low pressure by just looking at them.
