Have you ever started a project and have it grow into different directions? It has happened to me more than once. A while back, I started a project to add more light to the now all famous one backup light. After doing a lot of drawings, mockups, I finnally a finished product that works. That being said, I had the front door glass tinted (35%). Now the light that I augmented is now not bright enough. So I bought some flood lights from Oznium (~1.25" dia.) and am going to mount them 2 ea. on each side of the rear license. That requires that I run a wire from the b/u lite to the rear hatch. I took off the cover on the hatch, removed the plate, located and drilled the hole, and ran the wire towards the flex grommet located near the left hinge. There is a harness that runs up the frame of the hatch glass. It is not very roomy and I couldn't get through this channel to run the wire. So this norning, I went over to the local install shop to ask how much they would charge to run ~30 in. of wire up the frame. The guy looked at it and went back inside the shop. I closed the hatch and went inside to talk to the counter man.He said that it would be 1hour of labor ($75), I said no thanks. Lets see 30" of wire ~10mins. work-I'll take my chances and do it myself. Went to the local Harbor frieght and got a non conductive elect. fishing tape for $8, and my labor is free, to me.

Update:Back up lights

Friday was a perfect day. Got out all the stuff I thought I'd need to finish the newer back up lites. Took off the tail gate cover, and slipped the fish tape into the channel. After ~15 mins. it came thru the end of the frame, where I hooked the wire to it and pulled it thru. Connected all the hanging ends and closed up that area. Next, hooking up to the red wire on the b/u lite. I took the advice found here on the site, and removed the lower storage cubbies to expose the feed wires. Used a "tee" tap to the red wire, and reassembled everything. Last night, I put the xB into reverse, and there was light, lots of it. I'm going to show it to some friends tonight. I think they will be suprised, but today it is supposed to get close to 70 deg. so I'll get to wash and clean up the box.

Put all the stuff in the car that I use to wash, went over to my bro's and wouldn't you know it- the clouds started to roll in. In past experiences, when I'm halfway thru washing, it rains. So I didn't get to do the wash job. For some reason I'm having a mental block on getting pic's up to the forum. Phobic tried to help me, but I'm still struggling. I'll get it some day. I don't give up. Must be the OCD or that I'm just hardheaded.
