Hey everyone, I have been looking on the Internet for several days now and could not come up with anything. I am trying to replace the white fuse strip on the left side of the fuse box in the engine bay with the clear plastic cover over top. I went to Toyota today and ordered the replacement part for around $30. It should be in sometime tomorrow. After looking over the fuse box I am not sure how to remove this. It appears to have several covers over them that I cannot figure out how to remove. Has anyone ever removed one of these before?

Any help on this would be great. Thanks again guys.

Having looked closely at the assembly, it appears as though both ends of the "strip" are secured with nuts/blots. This kinda tells me you have to do some dis-assembly of the whole fuse block. Not a simple project I don't think, but it looks do-able. Might be really simple actually.... but make sure and set aside some time to ponder and figure.... and make sure you have some pick tools and small screw drivers to work with..... Multiple of each might be best. Also get some Electrolytic Grease from your local FLAPS.... Most carry some kind or another if they have a Counter person with any knowledge it helps.

If I see things right, you will have to remove the adjacent two fuse panels Above and above-right in your picture. They appear to snap free from the fuse assembly, and probably just pull straight out. Once they are out, you should be able to access enough of the "strip" to handle the project. I could be wrong, but that's how it looks from my Box.

Also, you may find that the new part will give some insight to the assembly as well.... of course there is the possibility that it may not, as well.

The good thing is, The whole Fuse Box Assembly appears to come from the fender easily as well.... that should help with access to all these parts.

Whatever you DO end up taking apart, make sure and put some of the Electrolytic grease on any connections to help reduce corrosion in the connection..... if there's none there, it wont hurt tio go ahead and use some anyway.

Sorry, so slow getting back.... Lots of work hours lately....

I don't have a schematic. I just used to work on Vehicles at Dealerships.... Had to take many a Ford/Mazda Fuse Block apart...... sometimes it's just not all that self explanatory.

Did you get the part yet?

The only xB2 (2008-2013) shop manual I see on ebay is a wiring one for $50 (or best offer).
The cheaper ones, as of typing, are for the 2003-2006/7 models.
