Hi all.
Just got my xb2 and love it *except* it is a pretty rough ride. More than I expected.
I have driven used 2-door tercels the past 25 years (just 2 of them in that period - talk about reliable!), and the xB actually seems a little rougher than those
Will this smooth out a lot/a little/not at all as it gets broken in?
Would changing to gas-pressurized rear shocks help any?

Hmm... I thought most people liked that it has a stiffer ride... Didn't you say you were test driving one? Did that one have a smoother ride?

Your question got me to thinking about those test drives: I always had somebody sitting in the back seat, sometimes two. Maybe that's why they seemed smoother...

LOL! I bought the xB because I have 3 Labs and the xB has the size needed.
BTW, the first night I had the car, two got in the back seat and did not want to leave.
Knew I had made the right choice at that point!

my number one solution for ride comfort is tire pressure adjustment!

Scion recommends 35psi front and 32psi rear [cold] - i am running mine at 34psi front and 31psi rear [cold] and feel it is pretty comfortable now... so try that and see how it works for you...

one thing i have noticed is that the xB is kinda like roadster [someone said it was like driving an italian sports car] - you tend to feel the road when it is a bit more bumpy than normal...

When I bought my xB two weeks ago the tire pressure was 40psi in all four tires from the dealer. I have since adjusted it to 38 front and 35 rear. I like a firm ride but wanted to keep the air pressure balanced so I went about 10% over the recommended pressure. I am a stickler for checking tire pressure and do it monthly. I would suggest that everyone get a GOOD tire pressure gauge and keep it in the glove box and check pressure regularly. As for the ride getting a little softer as you put more miles on it, I would say yes it should. That is because the springs and shocks/struts will break in a little. I've contacted KYB, Koni, Tokico, and Monroe about after market shocks for the rear and none of them have anything at this time. In fact they all seemed to not be too interested in the new xB's. I was told six months to two years depending on who I talked to. I know the stock rear shocks are made by KYB but the person I talked to did not want to even try and help me with a part number that I could maybe reference to another manufactures shock. I am wondering who makes the TRD shocks and struts for our car?

The ride is fine with me (35psi front and 32psi back). The ride will get softer in the long run, as the suspension system wears down.

What do you expect the WB is way to short to ride like a chevy.
