My wife and I have chosen to take the plunge and get an xB. This will be our first new car purchase and are kind of excited that we don't have to do any haggling.

Even though this is true, I've read some people talk down the sales people on add ons. Any recommendations on things we should ask for or how to ask for them? We are looking to cart around a few bikes ride and plan on having kids in the next five years or so and are not planning on doing any real mods to it.

Thanks!

Forgot the details!

2009 Stingray Metallic or Blackberry Crush. Summers get warm here, so I think we might go with the stingray. Still deciding on extras. I think the dealer has them with the applique and floor mats.

Pretty excited!

For added storage:
C-Pillar cubbies
Overhead console
Cargo net (I got this "just because" when I ordered the above 2, however I use it the most.)
(I have all three)

For improved handling (in descending priority):
TRD rear sway bar (SHOULD have been stock)
TRD springs
TRD shocks

For increased power:
TRD Cold Air Intake- CAI (pretty good bang-for-the-buck)
TRD Exhaust
If money for it:
TRD Supercharger (a LOT more power than the above)- incompatible with the CAI.

I'd get aftermarket rims.

Just my ideas . . .

Wait and get aftermarket stereo if you want better tunes.

Spoiler is a must in my book.

Right now dealers need to sell cars so do this. Find out retail on all the add ons you want. Then take off what ever you feel comfortable with and stick to that price. Also, know where another SCION dealer is at so you can walk if you need to. They may not come down to your price but they won't let you walk out of there without a car either so they will come down some. Or possibly offer you something like extra oil changes beyond the first two that are free. In either case stick to your guns and be ready to walk and they should budge on something.

 Your question brings up an interesting point. I've noticed that often while driving my XB, there seems to be a warp in the space time continuum (sp?) and I totally lose track of where I am, what time it is, and what it was I was supposed to be worrying about.

It is, yet it's not. Dealership said they had the one we wanted in stock, got the financing handled and went to go drive the car one last time. Dealership said "Oh I thought we had one, but we must have sold it." That call was Sunday afternoon, we went in Monday at four pm. They should have it "any time this week."

Slightly frustrated but I understand that buying a car isn't usually fun, but URRGH! I want my xB!!

Got it last night at around 6 pm. Love it so far. My only big complaint is how terrible the iPod controls are. I've got a fairly large music collection and trying to get from Apples in Stereo to The Weakerthans Takes some time.

My wife cant wait to throw our bikes in there and go for a ride!

Thanks for all your help!

Congrats on your new ride.

I just use the ipod cable to charge, then switch to the aux audio cable. Makes navigation through 4000+ songs much easier!

why not just turn the option to control the ipod from the stereo off and get the best of both worlds without having to switch it to aux?

Hit the POWER button to turn radio off, press and hold the "Audio Cont" button until "Direct control" comes up and then use the Volume to switch between Direct Control On and Off. It's in the manual under Direct Control.

I'll give that a try. The wife was able to convince me that she needed the car today, :p , so I'll try it tomorrow.

Any ideas for inexpensive parts/modifications to improve fuel efficiency or keep the vehicle in good health? My brother in law suggested KnD (i think) air filters.

I ended up getting the TRD air filter as it was rechargeable, a little more expensive but I felt worth it. I think the KnD are the same thing as that. There are a ton of little things that are inexpensive that you can do to these cars it is wonderful. Welcome again.
