The area where the window would normally be in an older XB has these nice deep pockets. Thinking about installing some speakers in them. I have a 12" sub in the back, but it really doesn't provide the mid bass I want...just a lot of super low end rumble. Anybody got any idea of what might fit there? 6" round looks like the ticket...maybe 6x9s? Making the enclosure isn't a big deal. Just wanted to see if anybody had done that and if so, lemme see some pics.

Thanks

Wow, great! Thanks for that. Think I am going to do something similar, but I think I'm going with 6 3/4 round speakers. I think the 6x9s make it obvious that one side is different than the other. The 6 3/4 speakers can be turned the same direction. Think what I will do is make the fillers out of 3/4 plywood, recess the screwheads (cap head hex heads) and paint the fillers with some textured paint. You can pop those panels off pretty easy to put a nut on the back. . I am putting a stereo in my wife's car, so I think I am going to give her the amp I have running my sub, and get me a 4 channel amp. I already have mine setup with quick disconnects so I can take the box out easy when I need to (90s caddies have great quick disconnects on the headlights). Then, I have some old subwoofer box wire hookups that I am going to mount in the space right behind the passenger seat so I can remove the wiring from the amp without having additional dangling wires when I need my cargo area. Think it will be bitchin!

Here's the amp with the heavy duty disconnects from the Caddy.

Here's the speaker inputs I plan on surface mounting into the rear quarters for quick disconnecting.

Will do. Probably won't order any speakers for another week, but I am going to go ahead and make the panels this weekend.
