Hey all! Has any one attempted to cut the stock wire harness of the aux/USB port where the harness meets the deck and wire in a standard USB end so it can plug into an aftermarket deck so the stock USB port can still be used? I have a 2011 xb and am trying to see if it's possible

Instead of splicing, it may be easier and faster to just use USB and RCA or headphone extension cords:

Doing so also preserves the stock wiring, in case you want to remove your aftermarket deck and reinstall the OEM deck prior to selling your car.

If you want, just use zip ties to attach the new wires to the existing harness, that way you can cut the ties and update the connections.

Here is an aftermarket aux usb panel port with cables that is a direct fit. Axxess AX-USB-35EXT USB + 3.5 Waterproof Cable w/ Covered Panel. A few years ago, we had to roll our own.
