I would not put anything pennzoil in my car that stuff is junk.
I use only the best either Amsoil or Mobile one. Those 2 are the originators of synthetics.

For dino oils, Pennzoil is actually very good. It often shows up WITH the synthetics on tests showing how their brand is better than the other synthetics (I've seen it on older Amsoil, Mobil, and Castrol charts and others I think. I've not looked in a while). On most provided tests, Pennzoil BEAT some synthetics, even coming in near the top on some tests.
On my Miata, I use Pennzoil 5w-30. It's consistency (according to a number of independent Miata specialists) works well in a N/A 1.6 Miata engine.

For the xB, you need 5w-20 or 0z-20. I'm not sure which synthetics or DinoOil work best in our engines.
If I was using non-synthetics, Pennzoil would be right at the top of my list. For syns, I'm less certain.

Amsoil is way too expensive for me, especially with 3K OCI. I tried Mobil 1 EP with my last car for the last four (4) year, it was great. However, I been a member of www.bobistheoilguy.com, and we love the performance and value ratio of Pennzoil Platinum. Plus, they often give out rebates. I purchased a 5-quart jug of PP for $19.00 in WallyWorld, and filled-out a $15.00 REBATE. That's great!

I agree TartanJack, Pennzoil YB is one of the most underrated dino oil in the market. Maybe, because of the MYTH, of them producing sludge in your engine. THIS IS NOT TRUE. In fact, Pennzoil YB has one of the most robust additives in the market (especially on cleaning your engine). That's why I use Pennzoil YB in my wife's car, all the time. :)

Sorry man Pennzoil just is not for me.I dont need any robust additive packages nor do I ever want to run Pennz. in anything I ever own. I had an issue with Pennz. a long time ago so its off . Amsoil has a 3k change interval not the stuff I was using. I use Mobile 1 with good results going 8500 miles between changes.

Totally respect that Aljay, Mobil 1 is a good oil. Don't you think 8500 miles is pushing it a bit for an OC, even with synthetic?

I'm about 2600 miles, since my last OC, and I am already thinking about changing my oil in a week or so. I have talked to local mechanics around my area, they still prefer doing an OC at around 3k, even if you are using synthetic. This is the same response I get when I email Pennzoil, Valvoline and Castrol.

No I have a freind who bought a 79 Z28 brand new in 79 and he has allways used Mobile 1 in it and it goes 10,000 on changes I put fuel injection on it several yrs. ago we swaped intakes and well I was amazed at how clean this motor was inside. This car is not babied we used to auto x this thing every month. It get driven very rarely now as its a collectors item of sorts and well it gets it changes on the calender now not buy miles. I am just a firm believer in syn. oils now.
