It seems they have floor mat issues, namely mats coming loose and interfering with pedals. That sounds dangerous. Owners are recommended to remove the mats.

The relevant models:
2007-2010 Toyota Camry
2005-2010 Toyota Avalon
2004-2009 Toyota Prius
2005-2010 Tacoma
2007-2010 Toyota Tundra
2007-2010 Lexus ES350
2006-2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350

That is a good bit of the models Toyota makes . . .
Notably, the Corolla, Matrix, and Yaris are absent. So, it isn't all Toyotas, just some VERY high profile ones.

Well, why should Toyota be immune? Seems no matter how hard they try, none of the car makers seem to be able to build all their cars trouble free. By that, I don't mean normal wear items.

Even the xB's aren't immune. Cacked windshields from faulty welds?!?!

No, Toyota isn't immune. I just found it an odd recall. It is the first I heard of mats causlng crashes in the real world. I thought that it was interesting, esp. in regards to the recent discussions of floor mats on here.
I found it interesting, more so than mechanical or electrical issues on cars I don't own.

Glad the mats I bought from Scion have the two things that lock the mat in place.
I got mine from ..... I think it was a member here, but it's possible I got them off eBay.... and they didn't come with the clips. I was constantly pushing them back down. I could easily see how they could intefere with driving. They kept creeping up on me until I went to the dealer who just gave me a set of clips! All I said was "I got the Scion floor mats but they didn't come with clips." I was fully prepared to pay, but they were just that nice :)

Yep.
The rev limiter will keep it from blowing its mill and it will slow right down.
