i know it has been posted / discussed numerous times but i keep searching and get different opinions / responses from different sites like here, scionlife, etc.

but my question is, what is the proper way to reset the sensor?

some say just push the button under the dash. some say to push the button while turning the key in the ignition to on and lock.

if the pressure was low and if the tire pressure is at the exact psi on the door jamb, will the light just automatically turn off? or would it have to be reset?

If the tire is low on air, my experience has been that after I pump the tire back up, the light eventually turns off. I did not have to push the button.

I say "eventually" because it will take a few minutes.

This happened on my 2008 Toyota Sienna van, a couple of times now. I've yet to have low air in the tires of my 2011 Scion xB.
Just put more air into the tire and it will disappear.
I am having an intermittant problem with mine. Light came on but all the tires are at the correct spec per the door tag. Drove a day with the light on. Next day I got on the freeway and after getting up to about 75MPH, the light went off and had been off for two days. Now this morning, after a couple minutes of driving, the light came back on. Any ideas?
Just because you pump up to correct the psi will NOT turn off the light. You have to drive it x amount of miles so it can register it. The light will eventually go off.

I am not sure if you were replying to my post but if you were, I have driven it enough miles to kick it off (happened before when I got new wheels, goes off in less than a mile).I think there is a bad sensor but I haven't heard anyone really talk about sensors going bad.

i've been researching more.

the TPMS light will constantly blink if the sensor is "bad"

if the light stays on. there is a change in pressure (a drop of pressure in one or more tires)

i filled my tires up with air and the light immediately turned off. i drove it around and the light has not come on yet.

if it does turn on again. i'm going to discounttire/tireworks/big-o/etc to have them inspect the tire if it's leaking air.
Okay, that's good to know. I'll double check the pressures again
update : i took the car to big-o because i have a friend who works there. well we found one "microscopic" hole in the tread after we dunked the whole rim/tire in the tub of water and saw very small bubbles come up.

so we plugged/patched it from the inside last night. i haven't dropped pressure yet overnight so i hope that solves it in the mean time. (keeping my fingers my crossed)

i didn't want to shell out money for one tire for the steelies because trying to save a few more dollars to keep a fresh set of tires for the new rims sitting in the garage.
Just an update from my problem... sorry for the highjack.

I adjusted the pressures to 1 psi over the recommended ones listed on the door sticker. Drove for a mile or so and no change. RTFM and they walk through how to use the Reset button for the TPSM. I did that the light is now off. I will watch to see if it comes back but I think this may have solved it.

No big deal, i'm sure others would prefer you share my thread instead of starting a new one lol

yeah, did you inflate the tires 1psi over with the tires cold? Or when they were hot? Bc the tire will slightly have more pressure if its hot before you fill them up. I hope you're problem is solved because its very annoying seeing lights on the dash.

___

well its been 2 days since my tire was plugged and it seems like the tire hasn't changed pressure. light is still off. Im going to continue to moniter some more.
I did 1psi over cold. So far, no light coming back on... fingers crossed and yes, it is an annoying light. :)
