So I just moved from Southern FL to Southern CA. My xB wad shipped here on a car carrier and just arrived yesterday. This morning I wake up with intentions of having my xB washed/detailed....and I find a nice gouge in the driver door. Someone took a ball point pen and made over a 12" scratch on my door. Of course I am PO'd but thought it would be a quick fix by taking it to a detailer and having it buffed out. Apparently the gouge is so deep I have to take it to a body shop. Nice Christmas present for me huh!

My insurance deductible is only $250...so I am wondering if I should utilize that and get it back to looking like it never happened; or going to a detailer and have them do the best they can do, but still be able to see some of it????? My fear too is that whatever idiot did this will strike again. I mean I am parked inside of a gated garage....so it is not like anyone just walking by could do this.

Anyone know of a good place in San Fernando Valley, CA to fix this?

i hate parking on the street when i go to my girlfriend's. there have been times when whole rows of cars have had their tires slashed, or windows blacked out with spray paint. my brother's 2009 civic si got its hood jumped on recently in a school parking lot.

Thanks for the info. In getting some quotes I have come to the conclusion that either I leave this as is or put it through my insurance. I cannot afford to pay for the repair through a bodyshop on my own.

Sorry to hear about your car. I had a little problem with my driver rear door, i was at dennys a couple of weeks back and the only place i had my car that day was there. i came home woke up the next morning went to wash my car and i see this dent with blue paint at dennys there was a blue jetta next to me and i knew the girls car. so i said something to her about at first she said it wasn't her, then i told her that i have witness that said it was her car {which i didn't }. she then told me that it was one of her friends that did it and she was sorry i was so pissed ..... sorry doesn't fix the dent and paint on my door it makes me sad to wash my car now because every time i do i find a new scratch :_ (

Take it to ;
Sierra Paint & Body
17528 Sierra Highway
Canyon Country 91351
(661) 251-9018.

Talk to Eric Bayliss and tell him you were referred by Xclusive Scions. He has done most of the paint and body work for our club's cars. Does good work at a good price.

Sorry to hear that. That's why I never live in a place, without a garage. I would always pay extra for garage, not only for my xB, but also for my family. :)

I just looked on car-part.com in your area, and doors are about $500-$850. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy used and install yourself than having a shop have it for a few days and having it reported to carfax.
