Hey everyone,
I'm new here- just picked up a 2012 silver manual tranny a couple weeks ago and I love it. I have the stock Pioneer head unit and have figured out most of its functionality, except for one thing. I have searched the boards on this and other scion xb sites to no avail. I have even "chatted" with someone on the Scion website about it, which was also no help.
I am having trouble getting the voice command function to work and am a bit confused as to what all I can control with it as well. I have an iPhone 4 paired to it and have been able to stream my music fine both over the bluetooth connection or with it physically connected via the usb jack, as well as make and receive phone calls using the phonebook/speed dial functions. I have also been using an iPod classic 160gb when I want to have all my music available.
Anyway, with the iPod classic connected, pushing/holding the "call/voice command" button does nothing, which I attribute to the iPod classic not being capable of voice command...? However, with my iPhone connected (either via bluetooth or usb), when I hold the "call/voice command" button until it beeps, I speak and nothing happens. I can tell by looking at my iPhone that it is behaving as though I have held the "home" button on the iPhone itself, which turns on its voice command function and awaits speech input.
Sorry for the longwinded first post and hopefully what I'm trying to figure out isn't too confusing.
I guess in short, can someone with an iPhone paired to the the same head unit walk me through utilizing the voice command function? Thank you in advance!
