Hi, I just picked up my box 2 days ago and I noticed that there are 2 pieces of hard clear plastic sticking on both sides of the rear fender area. Somehow I can not attach a photo, but one piece looks like a triangle shape and the other one just kind a wrapped around part of the fender. Anyone has any ideas what are those? Should I take them out or leave it.

Thanks!!!

Hmmmm, so all of you kept those plastic things on even it might collect dirt and created a black outline? That is my concern. :confused:
If you're driving a Super White xB, the black outline will eventually show, but you should be able to clean it up with a little extra effort. With any other color it's a non-issue.

If you didn't have them on the car you would be complaining about all the paint chips you're getting in those areas.

Yep, they're the same clear film pieces that I have added to the entire front of my car.

www.xpel.com sells it, but it can be had cheaper also.
Did you have that installed, or did you do it yourself?
I had a place called ACAP films install it for me. I love the stuff. No chips yet, and It makes cleaning off bugs and whatnot an easy chore.

I drive mostly on the freeway and frequently make long drive trips.
CA -> Vegas
SoCal -> NorCal
By the time I'm done driving, all those bugs have dried and pretty much stuck to the car.

You mentioned that this product makes cleaning them off an easy chore. How easy is it? Just windex and papertowel will do the trick?

Also, how much did you pay for the film and the install?

My local 3M dealer wanted like seven to eight hundered dollars to install the kit on the whole front of my car.

I went the eBay route. It's the same 3M film that xpel sells. Some of the cut-outs were slightly different. I'm 100% satisfied with what I received on eBay. I think I paid less than $200. I forget, it's been over a year.

I then took it to ACAP films, and they put it on for $175. So I spent less than $375 total.

I need to back up, removing dried up bugs is never enjoyable. With the film in place it still requires some elbow grease, just not as much if it's on the paint. I still wouldn't use windex and paper towels. But this film can be waxed. If I put a couple coats of wax on it, I find that some spray polish and a terry cloth towel gets the bugs off fairly easy.
