Ok, I've had my xB for about 2 years now, and I remember reading about it awhile back, but can't find it now... what is that giant coffee can looking thing in the middle of the exhaust at about the middle of the car and can it be removed? thanks guys!

It is the resonator and includes the second catalytic converter. It's commonly nicknamed "the scuba tank."

you can remove it but it's usually not a good idea unless your replacing your exhaust with a decent system or if you like your xB loud as ****.

Anytime your remove a cat, you're messing with emissions and could fail inspection -- especially if they do a visual to verify they're there.
