I've read many places that Mobil makes Toyota's oil. They have had a relationship since the 1950s.



That is the engine lubrication plate from a 1958 Toyopet/Toyota Crown.
Yes ExxonMobil does make the Toyota 0W20. Of course it contains a different additive pack from their own Mobil 1 AFE 0W20. There is some threads over on bobistheoilguy.com comparing the two.

I think we can go on about oil all day but I would be more interested in hearing about what transmission fluid everyone uses. I have been thinking about phasing out what ever is running in mine and getting some fresh stuff in there but all I can find is more than I really want to pay for it. I don't want super cheap store brand but I don't need Royal Purple either.

I have a 5-speed and I have heard many of the newer manuals take the same fluid as the autos and don't need the heavy weight gear oil like some older ones did.
