I apologize if this is a repeat thread, but GPS companies are always coming out with new models. What portable GPS unit do you have?

Brand? Model?

Likes?

Dislikes?

Where you display/mount it?

I don't have one and I am looking to get one. I want xB owners input because you have the same interior layout as I do.

i have a garmin nuvi. it's nice, a little older, so you can get a much nicer one for cheaper. i put mine in the little sunglasses holder cup on the left side of the steering wheel. i put the holder in some foam and its in the perfect spot.
I have a garmin nuvi 205. Bought it in white to match my super white!
I have Garmin nuvi 260w. Bought it about 1.5 year ago. Just updated the map for free too. The only thing I complaint is when you get out from the undergound garage, it would take a while to get the satellite. But I am not sure all GPS does that or some models get the signal better than others. Actually I would like to know if someone has that kind a knowledge out there.

Other than that, it works GREAT for me. Make sure get the kind would tell you the Street names, it worth for extra $20-30 bucks!!!
We use my wife's Blackberry... not sure if she's running the Garmin app, or some other one. She's tried them all, so if anyone wants more info, I can ask. She also has Slacker Radio, so we can have the phone plugged in the car's Aux port and the GPS voice comes through the speakers as well. There's a small monthly fee for the GPS, but we don't have to buy new maps, so it evens out & we're always up-to-date. My T-Mobile contract expires in Feb, around my birthday, so I might finally get my own ;)
There is a thread called "My GPS Mount". Check it out.
I use a tomtom 1 125 a bare bones gps device i love! i mount it at the extreme lower left side right behind my inspection sticker. i have no issues with using the mount supplied. for an entry level model it works well!
Another Garmin Nuvi user. I forget which model, I've had it about two years. It announces the street names, but does not have traffic updates. I mount it to the right of the rear view mirror and never...repeat, never...leave it (or the mount) in the xB when I'm not in it.

words to live by! leaving a gps visible in your car is a nice easy way to need a reason to buy new windows in your car, as well as a new gps!

I have heard that many times about leaving it up, when your not in the car. Also been advised not to put my home address in for the "home"?? button. I'm going to put the local PD as the home address. It's four blocks away from my house.
They can always get your address from the registration in your car.

Well, here the tread is to go to a movie theater parking lot and steeling a gps. They hit the home button and it takes the dirtbags straight to your home. They know your not coming home soon or reporting the missing the gps for awhile. I know they can get your address from your registration but, thieves are lazy. I don't want to make it easy for them.
Why would you leave your registration in the car?
Just to provide an update - My wife uses TeleNav on her Blackberry. Apparently, the Garmin app is more expensive, but the one we use has been great... And, since it's on the phone, we don't have to worry about leaving it in the car & having it stolen :)

The new apple iphone is my gps unit. Its free to use and works great, the only down side is I wish it would speak the directions. But theres an app for that to! ;)
Garmin Nuvi about 1 year old, and my sister also has a Garmin Nuvi that is maybe 2 or so years old. They both work great!

according to a few sources, iphone should be coming out with a free speaking map app soon (as part of the next firmware upgrade), so it can continue to compete with the droid.
I don't have one as of yet but have been researching extensively. I also ride a Harley and a snowmobile so I need portability as well as durability. I have found the Garmin Nuvi 500/550 to be the best for all 3 purposes and will be ordering soon, most likely after XMAS as the sales hit. Chief
I keep my registration in my wallet. I have never left the registration in the car.
