So I just recently bought this 2008 xB with 50K miles on it.

I checked the oil dip stick prior to purchase and oil looked real good.

I did the same for the transmission fluid, and it looked and smelled good too.

What maintenance items should I consider doing to ensure the best performance and longest life of the vehicle??

since you just bought it, it should be freshly tuned up. Get all the maintenance records you can from the dealer though. Do the first oil change in 3K miles and put in full synthetic, that will help the length of the life of your engine. Other than that, just stay up on maintenance and you shouldnt have any issues.

Along with maintenance make sure you giving it a proper wash every three or four months. Not the $10 gas station job but actually waxing it and cleaning everything. Paint is often the thing the get over looked when talking about longevity.

There's really not a whole lot to do these things maintenance wise. My advice would be to change the plugs out to platinum. Completely flush the transmission. I would be used toyota transmission fluid and check the belts. You can't change the fuel filter and you can't change the transmission filter. Well technically you can change both but the parts are hardly available. 1 of the reasons I got rid of my escalade and bought a toaster. They are truly 1 of the last cars that are completely owner customizable. Not to mention just problem free
