with that 'thing' in the top half of the air filter box??

What's it up there for, isn't a standard filter good enough for the 2.4L engine?

Did you see any difference in performance or mileage after you removed it?

It seems odd that they would put a charcoal device in this air stream. I wonder what the reasoning is?
