So let's start by saying I don't know much about wheels and tires other than what I've read here.

Driving through town today I see a nice looking wheel and rim chained to a stop sign for sale so I stopped to look. Here is what they were:

Set of 4
Konig Incident 17x7 5-100/114.4 GRM
Here is a picture: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/product/wheels/koninc.grm.ang.jpg

Yokohama S-drive tires
215/45R-17 91W XR B

I didn't see any scratches or curb rash - just a little brake dust.
The tread looked almost new. There was only one set there though so I don't know what the other 3 look like.

I checked the tire size on the chart TJ posted the other day. It is in the green. Will the wheels fit? I know the offset makes a difference. I don't know what it is though. Does anything in the numbers above tell us?

The sign said $700 OBO. Discount Tire Direct lists the wheels at $110 and the tires at $120 I imagine there are shipping charges and then mounting charges when they got here. I'm guessing around $1000+ new.

Does anyone want to give me pros and cons to the wheel/tire set?

I just ordered some Konig Illusions 17" Blue on Black 115 a rim, 98 a tire. I got free mounting and balancing, free shipping, and a 50 discount for some sale. the tires come with a $60 mail in rebate, and it totaled at $899 and the only optional thing i got was the new tire policy which was $50.

I went with a 235/45

Yeah, I see discount tire direct has the wheels and tires listed on eBay cheaper than their website with free shipping even. I thought maybe I'd call the guy and offer $500. The worst that can happen is he says no.

That's dumb that he has different prices listed. but not much I can do about it now.

I didn't look to see if the wheels/tires you bought were on eBay. If they are I would call their 800 number and ask for a refund of the difference.

On their website it there is a link to let them know if you found it cheaper somewhere else. They claim they won't be undersold. I would assume that includes underselling themselves.

The worst that can happen is they say no, right? If they did somehow justify not reducing the price, I would email. A different person would probably answer emails and they may say yes!

Thanks for the response. The wheels do have the right number and spacing for the lugs.

I don't really have the money to spend on wheels, but I thought maybe I'd call and offer $500.
