Im thinking of running the 19x9.5 wheels on my box because of the 3" lip. If I mount that on a 235 tire would it stretch it too much?

I been trying to find out if a 19 x 9.5 would even fit inside. I have a feeling that it run a bit too wide unless your running a wide body kit.

It would totally depend on the offset, Im trying to find out in the 9.5 is too wide for 235 tire. I found out yesterday from a friend who runs a tire shop, said the 9.5 would stretch the 235 so much that it would be dangerous to ride on. If it was a 8.5 or 9, it be still ok, but that extra half an inch is too much. A widebody you would need a lower offset say like a +20 or +25.. as opposed to the stock +48. Most of the wheels on the market are a +35, which is only 13mm difference..about an inch or so which wouldnt make that much difference since the stock wheel sits in a bit from the fender, the +35 would take it out to the fender.

OK here is the poop on 19x9.5 rims and 235 tires. First you did not say what tire exactly or give a tire profile. If you were to run say the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 235/55-19 they give a rim width range of 6.5" - 8.5". If you were to run the Michelin Pilot Sport PS3 235/35-19 they give a rim width range of 8" - 9.5". So you see it really depends on the exact tire as to weather it would hurt or stretch the tire. I will say one thing, it is not wise to exceed the tire manufactures recommendation. You may also find it difficult to find a reputable company that will mount tires on rims that exceed the tire manufactures recommended width. This is because as a professional they are suppose to know better and if something happened they could be held liable, i.e. sued big time. Another thing I would worry about is with a 19x9.5 rim it is going to be very heavy. This in not something that is good for handling or braking although it may look good at shows.

sorry not to burst your bubble... but as me having a rim thats 19x9.5 in the rear of the car and driving through snowy weather and everything... I haven't had no problems with it at all... I put these rims on the car when it had less then 500 miles on it...the car now has 8900 miles on it . Plus axis backs up that it fits on the car. I have a falken 265/30/19 in the rear...and I kid you not, I dont have one bent or crack and drive the car everywhere and everyday....all over New York and New Jersey. So i wouldn't say that its not good for braking or handling.. I would say my handling improved more then anything having a wider rim &tire on my car.

i have 225/35/20 on my xb my rims are 8.5 inches wide i think that is the widest you want to go if you wwant to lower it cause i have to roll my fenders also now so heres a pic of mine...just to give ya a idea...

Ended up with 19x8.5 front at +35 offset and a rear of 19x9.5 with a +45 offset. Front sticks out a lil, no problem on braking since I have the huge Rotora BBK. Probably will notice issues with gas mileage but I dont drive it all that much so its ok. Had the box since Feb, its got 4200 miles on it and 2300 was from going to Scion United and LA for the BBK.

Yeah well I got 8000 on mine now 5000 of which are from driving to scion united. It sucks that I put that many miles already, but it was so worth it. Always wanted to road trip and had a great time.

I am running 18x8's with a +25 offset. I could probably tuck in a nice 9.5" or even 10" with this offset as long as the wide was towards the back of the rim. If more of the width came out towards the front I would be sticking way out. Right now the only thing sticking out is the spokes, but thats partially due to the design.

Im going +45 offset 9.5 on the back, +35 offset 8.5 in the front (19's) ..
