xB2 Tops Nissan Cube and Kia Soul in Motor Trend Comparison

The latest issue of Motor Trend has college students and recent grads as well as MT editors evaluate the xB, Cube and Soul. They liked the Soul's styling and the Cube's driveability, and whined abour how the xB had become mainstream, but the xB still came out on top.

Interesting read. I plan on doing my own test of the Cube and Soul. I wonder what they will think when I pull up in my XB2?

Whats this guy thinking??????
"Jimmy , you get him to buy a Cube. I will double your comiission"
I like THIS quote from the article:

Still, the overall win on the road has to go to the Scion. Martinez lauds the xB for its bigger driving character over the other two. "Road feel and steering sensitivity are most fun compared with the lighter, more electronics-involved steering of the Kia and Nissan. And it has ample power for freeway passes at speed," he adds. "By far the most well sorted," says Voehringer of the xB. "The most power, the most stable, the most solid feeling-essential attributes for a vehicle responsible for getting my kids around town."
After putting on some sweet accessories and performance parts, the XB can smoke the cube and the Soul by far.

When I first saw the Soul concept car, I said, Kia is finally thinking then I saw the production car and sat in it and thought this is so Kia still and it can't be like the XB2. Cube on the other hand is unique on its own. I saw a Mugen version of Honda from Japan I think it is call "Spark". Pretty sweet too.

Nice article!!!
Living in Japan for so long has made me numb to the box funk. Square cars are so normal here.

It's an interesting comparison, but it's apples and oranges. The bB is a 1 box (like the Cube) and the Rumion is a 2 box. It's too bad that the bB facelift didn't make it over there, but the 2xB is a great car.

btw, Cube is a chick car in Japan.
Could you elaborate on 1 box and 2 box . . . ?
That sounds interesting and is something I didn't know.
Sure. They're newer monikers. 1 box refers to the original smaller boxes like the bB, Cube, and so on. 2 box is the new category of larger boxes like the Rumion. Think of a 2 box as a minivan with no cab-forward design.
I just wish that they would use the 5-Speed xB for the straight line performance...I'm sure my M5 will beat any auto xB with the same performance equipment (CAI, cat back, quick shifter)...at least until I'm too old to use a clutch and manual shift! (For that matter I would think that any manual 5-speed would out perform the 4-speed auto xB in the stock form.)

Yeah, I don't understand why they don't test vehicles with the same drive train so you get a true apples to apples comparison. My guess is the response would be that they test what the manufacturers send them, but c'mon...this is an automotive publication, not Readers's Digest. They ought to specify stuff like that to give the review real validity.
the Kia soul and Nissan cube are both very interesting looking cars but very weak engine performance
ether way i think they look cool nothing like it thats for sure
