Well freezing temperatures are here again in the great Midwest. My driver side window has frozen shut three times in the last two weeks. After running the car for 10 to 20 with heat on of course and slamming the door few times it thaws out and the window opens.
Has anybody had the same problem out there? Do guys have any ideas what I could do to get the moisture out of the molding of window so it won’t freeze shut?

just wondering why you'd want to open your windows when it's so cold out? i live in upstate new york and i don't generally open my windows at all from september - april, though sometimes i have to to look for traffic out of my development after frosty nights, but they don't ever freeze shut.

you could try a spray deicer along the bottom of the window frame, it may help melt some of the moisture thats holding the windows shut. it's moisture on the outside of the car, which is why it takes sooo long to thaw with the defrosters on.

stay warm out there

- To pay tolls (if you don't have an E-Z Pass)
- To give money to the homeless guy while waiting for the light to change
- To buy a bag of oranges (oops...that's California. Never mind).
- Five finger wave to Santa
- One finger wave to the guy who just cut you off
- To pick up your order at the drive-thru

Ditto on the de-icer.

I've had windows ice before, but I don't think I have to worry about them freezing shut - I live in Texas (It was warm enough on Monday that I decided to go outside and wash my car).

??? Depends where you are in Texas....I lived in the Dallas area for 52 years and there were times when it did not get above freezing for days.
But, now I live in SW Florida, below the freeze line...and don't go north of the line between November and April...so I haven't had a window freeze shut! :)

True. Lubbock was getting a ton of snow not too long ago... I'm closer to Fort Worth (Go Horned Frogs!) than Dallas, and it's been in the 20's the past few nights.

Not much you can do if you have to park it outside overnight or at work. We used to try just about everything here in the burbs of Burrrfalo when I mangaged a fleet of many makes and models. The cheapest and equally effective was spray bottles of the -20 windshield anti- freeze solution-what ever make and interior heat. If you keep it inside at room temperature, by the door, it works a little faster. Won't mess up the paint or leave a mess on the window.

Pleeeeeeeease don't slamma da doors, itsa notta a good ting to do

Happens to me here in TN. Never really that cold but it will freeze up and will not roll down (front driver). Odd - seems to be a problem with the weather stripping design. A while back I had a problem with the rear brake calipers freezing up after having the emergency brake applied overnight int he cold. Took a replacement of cables from 2009 car to fix. I don't think my car likes the cold.

Not yet, and it's been pretty cold here for both winters my xB has been through. (Atlanctic coast, 1/2 hour NE of Philly.)

I have noticed a few times that they might "stick" just a tiny bit if it rained or snowed and then got dry out.

Deicer and windshield anti- freeze are great tips guys, but the truth of matter is that our doors hold way more moisture than they should. Even in the summer I have washed my car and then two days later unrolled the windows and then rolled up the windows to find to find ton of water on there panes. I really think our doors will rust out from inside out, way sooner than other cars will.

Moisture in the parking cable jackets will do that. Fortunately, Scion came up with a replacement cable solution. Haven't hit the frozen window problem yet, but it definitely gets below freezing here, so it's always possible(however, I don't usually open the windows in winter).
