Have to see this in person. From the photo, not liking the color too much.

The color is the same as the bright hue created for the FJ Cruiser introduction (first used on the show car).

i hope this isn't true. That body kit is awful.

It may be because i'm partial to my 08 box and still don't like the new revision...but i am not liking this.

Pros:
I like the radiator showing
thats about it.

Cons:
The front bumper is awful.
The rear bumper is too boxy, even for a box car! the fins on the bottom are odd too.
The color, front bumper, and side skirts are all wavy/aquatic...and the back is just a box butt.

???:
I really like the FJ Cruiser color on the FJ...cause its retro and throwback. I don't know how i feel about it on the xb, which is very modern.

The 2 are actually related designs . . .
The Scion t2B (The concept the xB2 is derived from) was the next project for the design team after the FJ concept vehicle. Many "unused" ideas from the FJ show up on our boxes. The asymetrical lighting was a direct idea kept on the FJ until fairly late, but dropped and then used on the t2B. The entire front of the t2B is rather close to one possible direction for the FJ . . .

The t2B is basically a road-use version of the FJ's underlying concept. (FJ is the OFF-road direction, while the t2B allowed them to take the original idea range down a on-road-only vehicle path.)

Both are designed with an intentional "industrial modern" aesthetic and have a number of "retro" touches that were "modern" before they were "retro" (sometimes called "retro modern" of the like).
The Voodoo blue hue was used in the FJ design process and became a "theme" to the team in itself. When it was decided to build the concept design (design finalized) the color was decided to be used too. When going into production as the FJ Cruiser, the color showed up too.

Look at the radio surround on your xB and the front bezel of the FJ (and the FJ40s) . . . it's the same.

I'd argue that BOTH are VERY modern, but w/ a bit of "retro" thrown in.
(See my thread somewhere on here w/ pictures of 1950s and 1960s 1/4 ton delivery vehicles and other "old" trucks.) I'd say it referenced 2 main vehicle types:
-Old-school small delivery trucks
-American hot rods (esp. 50s "shoebox" and 1930s Tudors and delivery sedans)

While the xB doesn't "ape" a specific old-vehicle, like others . . .
HHR-> 50-53 Chevy Suburban
PT Cruiser-> 1930s Airflow
Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro-> 60s model of same name
BMW Mini-> Classic Mini

(Don't think Toyota had a whole lot it really wanted to "throw back" to . . . )

There is marked "retro" influences to the xB2, just interpreted in a very "industrial modern" manner.

I really like this. The body kit is great, its aggressive and still clean. The color is off the wall, which is what I love about xB RS models. The xD also stays pretty true to this as well, the rs is always (or mostly) a very odd and crazy color.

I can't wait till my dealer gets one of these. Ive see the color on the FJ and its so bright and crazy, I bet it looks great on the B.

better in person

I was at the dealership yesterday and saw the rs 8 in person. I like the blue a lot better up close than in photos. I do wish they would come up with more unique colors like the gen 1 rs's like lava, burnt penny, and other iridescent paints though.
